Green Philosophy

The owners and staff of HEROWeb/MightyMerchant are committed to minimizing the impact our business has on the environment. We believe setting a positive example for our clients and other eCommerce sites will encourage other web-based businesses to examine their own environmental policies. We are dedicated to promoting the *Four R’s in every aspect of our business. Our philosophy is reflected in our actions:

Green Action

*Reduce ~ HEROWeb/MightyMerchant monitors energy consumption, landfill contributions, fuel emissions, and chemical usage in our corporate offices.

HEROWeb/MightyMerchant reduces the amount of paper used to run an office by conducting business online through email and web-forms. Our promotional media is web-based, further reducing the need for paper. We use energy efficient lighting and appliances. Lights and equipment are turned off when not in use, and obsolete or broken equipment is promptly dismantled and recycled.

Public transportation to the office is convenient, with a stop directly in front of the building. We’re located downtown, with several restaurants, banks, and convenient services in easy walking distance. Carpooling is encouraged and staff are allowed to arrange their schedules or telecommute to reduce the number of daily trips to and from the office.

*Reuse ~ Cloth towels, ceramic dishes, and stainless steel cutlery are provided for staff in break areas to reduce landfill contributions.

*Repair ~ Whenever possible, broken or malfunctioning equipment and office furniture are repaired and put back in use. Obsolete electronics and outdated furniture are dismantled and donated to local charities. Ruinously damaged equipment is recycled.

*Recycle ~ HEROWeb/MightyMerchant has recycling collection bins conveniently located in break areas. As part of regular maintenance we inspect waste containers for recyclables and sort them properly. It is our policy to “Buy Recycled” whenever possible, and we encourage our employees and clients to do the same!

While many businesses take advantage of the current trend of purchasing green energy credits to reduce their carbon footprint, at HEROWeb/MightyMerchant our policy is more pro-active than re-active. We wholeheartedly promote the reduction of waste and carbon production through real action, and go a step further.

HEROweb/MightyMerchant donates ten trees for every new client through American Forests campaigns, Global ReLeaf and Wildfire ReLeaf. We encourage our clients and competitors to support their efforts and help them meet their goal of 100 million trees by 2020 through their own pledge programs and donations, and become Green Heroes for the environment!

HEROWeb/MightyMerchant supports local community service and environmental action as active members of SOLV . Through programs like Project Oregon, Oregon Adopt a River, and Tree for All, Oregonians are organizing programs and volunteers to improve our communities and the environment.
